Our Process
90% of our work is made by STARworks Clay! Other 10% are new clay tests and something mixed up by ourselves with our favorite Shimpo NVS-07 Pug Mixer. This Pugger Mixer is made with all stainless steel and it does not have screen, so it is perfect tool for us to make NC wild clay-bodies.
And when we build our Anagama kiln, we got beautiful Yellow clay from foundation. And we use this and white slip that we made from North Carolina local clays for decollation.
And we collect wood ashes from wood kilns and our wood stoves, and making ash glazes. And we use iron oxide for decollation. Iron Oxide is the only oxide we use for our pottery. We try to use simple and non-toxic materials to create our work.
The Anagama firing take 3 days to load and 5 days to fire. Salt chamber firing by itself takes, one day to load and one day to fire with 5 lbs of salt.
