We are fortunate we can come to Seagrove, NC in June 2005, and living and getting involved in ceramics here.

This is very rare and important town for the American ceramic history.
There are over 120 pottery studios in this town and many consumers come to buy pots.

This is a ceramic supply shop in Star, NC which is located 10 miles south of Seagrove.
Takuro Shibata set up STAR Works Ceramics as a ceramic engineer in Nov 2005 under the Yadkin - Pee Dee Lakes Project.
STAR Works Ceramics sells High Water Clays materials mainly, but also several dry materials, local digging clays as well.



Summary
STAR Works Ceramics Materials & Research is in Star, NC which is located 10 miles south from Seagrove.

The building used to be an agricultural institute and built in 1940.

Then an under wear company, the Fruits of the Loom made sock factory with several renovation, so that the building have got huge space.

About 10 years ago, the factory was closed and moved to Mexico. It's been abandoned for a while.

The last year, this huge building was bought and donated to NPO, the Yadkin - Pee Dee Lakes Project, and now they manage to use the space something good for local communities.

The first project was "The STAR Kilns" and it's an industrial tile production company.

And the second project is "The STAR Works Ceramics Materials &Research", and we provide ceramics materials for the local potters in this area.

As a future goals,we want make this space as a potters community place which information, materials, cultures, and people will be able to gather.

North Carolina Pottery Center


Museum Building

North Carolina Pottery Center is located in the downtown Seagrove, and this is the NC state traditional, Educational, pottery museum.

In the museum section, there are native American ceramic collections, stone wares in 18th century, and contemporary ceramics.

There are 5 to 6 times of the special exhibitions, and introduce many NC potters works.


Ceramic Studio

There is the ceramic studio building next to the museum
.
2 to 3 times ceramic workshop are hold in a year.
Also demonstration are given to visitors.

There are 2 kinds of wood kiln. One is Nobori Gama, the other is Groundhog Kiln.
